Vote for the Future of our Park!

Go to https://www.peakdemocracy.com/portals/237/Issue_5475/survey_responses/new and vote for what programs you would like developed at Bay Meadows Park and other recreation facilities across San Mateo. If you would like to preserve our open space or indicate another option not listed, select Other and type in your response. Also, select the amount of dots (priorities) to assign to each of your choices. Click on the image blow to see an example of this.

You can add a more detailed response on the same survey page in the "What are your perspectives as relate to the relationship between the Recreation Facility and the surrounding park?" and "What is your vision for a recreation facility at Bay Meadows Park?" answer boxes. Answers made public by other respondents can be seen at https://www.peakdemocracy.com/portals/237/Issue_5475/survey_responses.

Our Park's Future is Unclear

The San Mateo Parks and Recreation commission is planning to build a large lifestyle center on the western half of Bay Meadows Park. The Recreation Facilities Strategic Plan approved in 2016 calls for programming to be created and updated at all recreation facilities including Bay Meadows Park, Beresford Center, Lakeshore Park, Shoreview Park, Central Park, and King Community Center. The decision of which programs to locate at each facility will determine how existing facilities are redeveloped, and how new facilities are built in Bay Meadows Park.

Recreation Facility Community Workshops

Between September 25 and October 5, the San Mateo Parks and Recreation commission held community workshops in four locations to provide a summary of their efforts so far and to solicit feedback from the community about which programs should be located at each facility. The attendance of approximately 30 people at the workshop held in Bay Meadows at the Nueva School exceeded the combined attendance at all of the three other workshops held at other locations. This showed the city that our community is strong and that we will participate in all plans which affect Bay Meadows.

At the workshops, large boards were put up for residents to indicate their feedback for each recreation facility. The results from all four workshops are shown below. Click on each image to view the full size version.
